When being upset about someone’s unkind, negative or critical words, we must understand that no one can really hurt or offend us. The hurt feelings experienced will only be as stingy and cruel as we allow it to be. There is no need to react, respond, and defend ourselves. We know who we are; we know that we are good and kind, so why bother and respond?
Did you know, that negativity, per the dictionary, is ‘a quality characterized by a person who is habitually skeptical, tends to deny, oppose, or resist suggestions or commands.’ Negativity is life-denying.
Positivity, per the dictionary, is ‘a quality characterized by a person who is displaying certainty, acceptance, affirmation, positive answers, confidence, and positive reinforcement.’ Positivity is life-giving.
So why do we still react to someone’s opinion, criticism or intentional hurtful comments? It will only suck us into a vortex of negativity. Let us practice to stay in the ‘light’, the uplifting, life giving and confident (that all is good) state of mind!
