Morning Thoughts: Do I have a clear picture, a vision for the future?

Picture
The ‘Covid-19’ days of 2020, dreadful, sad, and terrifying at times, have given us –at least to some degree - the gift of time to reflect on past choices. It has aided us to see a clearer picture on where we’re at in our lives, at this time of the game.

Looking around, we’re starting to see the lasting effects of this pandemic everywhere. Well, at least for me, it definitely had some impact on my mental and physical health. It brought out the good and the bad, the happy and the sad. And there I was observing my habits, moods, fears, and innermost thoughts, focusing on regrouping, re-planning the bucket list, reorganizing, and setting the refresh button.

Keeping hope alive, knowing this to be a transitional period is helpful. But, habits and behaviors are hard to break. Fears are challenging when they stare you right in the face; and frankly, being taught since childhood that we must conform to certain standards has made us automatons rather than individuals.

Anyone person we’ve ever encountered has left an imprint on our subconscious mind. Deep down we have accepted the rules of society. We thought we were ‘good’ if we conformed to the mind-sets of others. Time to wake up!

Now, retired, when the race is seemingly over, and all that time on my hands, the question arises, who am I without the labels of society. Who am I, alone in my four walls closing in more and more as the isolation continues?

Do I like what I see, my perception of self? Do I have a clear picture, a vision for the future? Will inspiration and my desires be enough to carry me through?

I’m grateful for the solitude and uninterrupted thoughts that allow me to ponder life itself…and All is Good!
With Love, ULRIKE
