Harmony is natural; discord is unnatural. And gratitude is one of the greatest healers. We can trust our source; trust our instincts and we must listen carefully to our intuition.
Practice making each thought being better than the one before. Keeping a diary with daily notes will help you to see a pattern. Observe your behavior and word habits. We don’t always realize the power of the words we frequently use. In fact, too often we use them without thinking.
There exists an unfortunate amount of negativity in our language—phrases and expressions and simple words reflecting our careless speech. Often, when a situation arises, we revert to the negative: “Oh God, what happened now?” or “Why me again?” or “It’s always the same problem!” These are just a few of the phrases that express the expectancy of wrong or evil.
For fun, make a list of the negative phrases and reactions you use or hear daily. It’s an eye-opener!
My neighbor made a wonderful comment the other day. He was a little overwhelmed with the extent of his kitchen remodel and said, “Well, I can look at this in two different ways. I can say, ‘Oh man, what a mess! I can’t wait to get this over with.’ Or I can say, ‘WOW, I am getting a new, beautiful kitchen.’ What the heck am I complaining about? How lucky am I!”
This is exactly what I want you to practice. Take any negative viewpoint and turn it around. You are the luckiest person you know, no matter what the situation. You are fortunate and blessed because you are alive, you are in charge of your life, you are intelligent, and you are a loving being. You are the most precious person you know. Isn’t life wonderful?
