I read a lot of inspirational and psychology books. This is my saving grace and I’ve been doing this for 40 years. It really has helped, and still helps me, to overcome some disheartening experiences.
There is a lot of advice ‘out there’ and each of us must decipher what works and what feels real for the current situation. But when looking for Truth, it doesn’t matter who wrote it, said it, or taught it. Truth is Truth. We feel it in our gut, we know instinctively what’s right and what’s wrong, what’s good and what’s not acceptable.
I embrace Truth when I find it. I’m not afraid of it even though it’s not always what I’d like to hear. I take it with a grin or a tear, sometimes many tears. And if I don’t accept the Truth presented, I surely will be tested and will have to learn the lesson the hard way.
How do I know it’s the Truth? Does it feel right? Is it loving, uplifting, spiritual, pure, honest, and good for all concerned? I’m asking myself these questions all the time. Every decision I make has these questions attached.
Looking deep within my Soul, I’m asking my Higher Self, ‘What is my purpose and what is my goal in life? What do I really want? What do I think is lacking in my life? Am I as authentic as I can be?...and much more’.
Then, I listen carefully. My questions will be answered because it all stems from within. However, as much as I want the answers ‘right now’, I know there is no need to rush or worry. My heart might not agree, but my reasoning knows that patience is a virtue. I’m telling myself to take my Soul off the clock. When working from within, I must make sure not to overwhelm myself. Everything I need will be accomplished in due time, when the time is right.
In this process of self-discovery, I remind myself that it doesn’t matter what others do or say. I listen to opinions but do not take them personally or as my ultimate guidance. Each of us is only responsible for our own lives and our personal experiences. So, I stay focused on my own business—which is the business of my individual unfoldment. It’s the business of personal growth and happiness – one day at a time.
With Love, ULRIKE
