Morning Thoughts: Spiritual Laws and The Allness of Good

Remembering back some thirty plus years ago, one of my metaphysics teachers used to say: “How can you adhere to the Laws of the Universe when you can’t obey earthly laws?” And she meant all earthly laws, including a parking ticket. I will always remember this, because my quest to follow Universal Laws has been with me ever since. And yes, I remember the parking ticket too…

As my friends know, reading is part of my morning ritual. I read only metaphysical texts and prefer the writers and teachers from the early to late 1800’s, but recently I picked up a newer edition of Deepak Chopra’s ‘7 Spiritual Laws of Success’ which I purchased some years ago. It’s amazing how the text of a book changes when you haven’t read it in several years. Well, yes, it’s not the book that changes, but your perception of the words, better yet, the meaning of the words.

So, I have decided to devote my weekly blogs to Universal Laws and their applications, and my interpretation of them, over the next few weeks. I’ve written about my understanding of the Laws in my book ‘Better Living through Right Thinking, 10 Actions to Improve Your Health, Wealth, and Happiness’ a few years ago. Since then, I have studied and studied and studied some more. It really is an awakening when you see your life twisting and turning and changing to reflect your new improved awareness.

For today’s topic I chose: The Law of the Allness of Good (God is all there is)

It’s a wonderful starting point to realize that “all is good”. What I mean by that is, that even though many things in the world look evil, they are not by nature wicked. This Law is certainly one of my favorites because it assumes that the good alone is real. Evil is ‘unreal’ or ‘not natural’. The horrific occurrences you see in this world are all manmade or caused by man. Since they are made by man, it can be rectified.

Just think how wonderful it is to look at your daily happenings and with full awareness enjoy the good, but deny any disturbance, unpleasantness, uneasiness, resentment, or grief entrance into your mind. Say: “Stop, I no longer think that way! I will only see the good and any other malevolent appearance is only a lesson for me to move forward and onward.

Having Faith in this Law of the Allness of Good is the most comforting, healing, and inspiring Truth we can ever experience, because this Goodness is God itself. All is Good!

Morning Thoughts: What does abundance mean to you?

I usually don’t write much about abundance, money, wealth consciousness, and such topics. Not that they are not important, it just seems that there are always more emotional matters to work on...for me anyhow.

Yes, we all think a lot about money, money, money—but have you ever thought about what money represents in the mental realm rather than in this so-called physical world?
Why do we focus so much on money? Is it because it lets us afford the things we want? Is it that we feel secure having a healthy bank account? Does it give us status, a request from our ego?

When we look at it from a metaphysical viewpoint, it’s only a convenient means of exchange. Nothing more, nothing less. Our wealth does not necessarily depend on money; it rather depends on our understanding of Truth and the meaning of Wealth Consciousness.

That comment, of course, begs the question: what does ‘Wealth Consciousness’ mean to us? How else, but money, can we feel abundantly provided for? How do we create wealth consciousness?

First, we must change our sense from ‘I have to earn money to make a living’ to ‘I am abundantly provided for’. Wealth does not consist of money alone. Money is only the visible symbol of our abundance, which is produced in the mind. There is plenty of goods for all of us. We must see a broader view of abundance to include an abundance of love, friends, happiness, gratitude and so on.

We must stop blocking our natural flow by limiting ourselves to such restrictive thoughts as ‘I don’t have enough,’ I need,’ or ‘I am broke,’ and replace them with ‘I have everything I need’ and feel it as strongly as we can this to be the Truth. And most of all, crown it with gratitude for what we already have. Gratitude multiplies. What are your thoughts on this topic?

Morning Thoughts: God is in the eyes of the beholder

A few years ago, I wrote a book called “Forever…and 365 Days” which described the daily thoughts and actions of a metaphysics teacher, like myself. One of the chapters dealt with the idea of God and what it means to different people. I’m certain, each of us has a different sense of this Almighty Power.

In my networking efforts I connected with an inspirational author, who to my surprise also served as a pastor in Northern California. He befriended me on my metaphysical Facebook page, and I thought about how I would answer him if he, being a man of God, would ask me:

“What is your idea of God and what does God mean to you?”

I would answer him without hesitation:
God is Universal power, the Almighty substance that sustains all life. I am part of this substance called Consciousness. I can think, and thinking is the conscious activity of this substance led by God’s urge of expression.

God is Wisdom. So, I, being part of this Wisdom, must choose wisely as to what I think. It is my duty!

God is good. So, I must be and act good to live up to God’s standards. It is my duty!

God is Intelligence. So, I, being part of this Intelligence, must act intelligently and in accordance with the Truth. It is my duty!

Most of all: God is Love. So, I, being part of Love must love unconditionally all Life. It is my duty!

I am a fragment of God’s essence, and I must honor my heritage.
Yes, this is how I would answer his question. Time to practice!

Morning Thoughts: “Finding fault is finding trouble.” William W. Walter

I had a conversation with a friend the other day and caught myself complaining about some trivial things. You know: the service at this restaurant is too slow, I like the food but there aren’t enough vegetarian options on the menu…the weather has been too hot – now suddenly, it’s too cold. The pool isn’t usable anymore, the pool man didn’t do a good job this time, whine, whine, whine,…

I really gave this some thought and realized that it’s not just about things that are not perfect, but the complaints include people who are not behaving the way I (we) expect them to. All in all, things are just not the way I (we) would like them to be. This person seems nice, but…The gardener didn’t clean the yard good enough…the store was out of so many things…and on and on!

Once sucked into the vortex of negativity, the mood darkens, it sets the tone for the day, and trouble is closely lurking around the corner. Why is it that we constantly find something that is not exactly to our liking? Should we accept the things as they are?

The above comment “Finding fault is finding trouble”, coined by W. W. Walter has stuck with me through the years. It’s a subtle reminder that our work is to stop finding fault in others, things, and situations, because when we do this “fault finding”, we are giving power to negativity. We see others and our environment as incomplete and less than good. The truth is, the errors of others aren’t our affairs and frankly, they are none of our business. Nevertheless, sometimes I continue to look deeper and deeper into the faults of others instead of keeping my focus on self. Yes, let’s be frank, I have enough to correct in myself. It keeps me busy!

The comforting thought, however, is that we are all in a state of unfoldment relative to our understanding of how Mind works. Our only duty is our daily mental work, practicing and striving to correct ourselves. We need to address all our habits. Good or bad, we need to look at them honestly. Then we can correct misconceptions within self and stay busy with our own unfoldment. Let us find the virtuous, not faulty – let us celebrate this everlasting goodness within!

Morning thoughts: Inner Strength

10/6/2021

Overcoming loneliness is on the agenda this sunny day. It’s not often that I feel this way, but certain events have left me wondering about the value of companionship.

Yes, I have learned and know, that all is contained within. I’ve attempted for a long time to grasp this fact of oneness. Intellectually, this realization taught me that I am never alone, but always all-one. This is a Universal Law. However, emotionally at times, I struggle with this concept. It takes inner strength to see the Truth within.

This inner strength of truly knowing the Divine Presence is already within each and every one of us, will eternally provide continuous strength and support, and I will always feel loved and cared for.

But the main thing to remember is that I have myself, my loving, perfect and already complete self. And this all-embracing ‘self’ is the source I can draw from when I feel less than, abandoned or lonely. This inner strength, once I know and trust my own Spirit, will guide and protect me from any and all emotional and mental pain.

When I feel alone, fighting the battle by myself, always carrying the burden – I know in my heart that this sense of heaviness is self-inflicted. So, how can I change this daily load to a more positive and lighthearted experience? Can I let go of this self-inflicted weight and worrisome attitude? What causes this intense sense of separation and loneliness?
Is it that I separate myself from God, this Universal power that sustains all? Does this sense of separation—which is only an illusion, as it is impossible to separate from your life source—leave me feeling empty and in a constant struggle?

So many questions are yearning for answers. I believe I can change my sense to a lighter outlook by letting go and by knowing that all is good and for a good purpose. ‘Nothing, absolutely nothing happens in God’s world by mistake’, says the Acceptance Prayer. I must continue to have faith in the Allness of Good, there is no other way. I must start from this premise of goodness being the underlying principle of all life. Only then can I let go of what seems burdensome and oppressive.

“I think - and that is all that I AM. My awareness of self - is all that I AM. I AM that I AM.”

Morning Thoughts: What can we take with us to the next life?

9/29/2021

Picture

As we mature (yes, I avoided saying ‘getting older’), the fear of having missed out in life, trying to finish the ‘bucket list’, fear of going before our time, fear of old age and decay with the end of an unavoidable departure from this plane - all of this begs the question: what can we really take with us to the next life? Is there a need for anything?

Is the next life just a state of bliss, a party, or what? Well, we don’t rightly know, do we?

I believe, and maybe you do too, that life doesn’t end once we pass over the great pond. Life lives, but it undeniably will be transformed, and certainly from this physical experience into a mental and spiritual one.

After this life-stage, when we are stripped of all material goods, it appears that we can only take our values, morals, our good character, and the knowledge of truth we have unfolded at the time of our passing or transition to the next dimension, with us. Our earthly belongings will be nothing more than a dream.

All so-called material things are reflections of the mind’s substance. They are mental in nature and therefore will go back to their native nothingness once we move on into the next realm of being. Dust to dust.

Hence, it is of utmost importance to work on our spiritual unfoldment, our contributions to this world, our goodness and helpfulness to humankind, our love for all living beings - not only work for monetary gains, and our material, physical lives. All of this, of course, should be enjoyed while here, but only the actual sense of enjoyment will be with us when we depart.

In this lifetime, our culture wants everything right now, instant gratification. There is no patience in this kind of thinking. However, the spiritual process is not instant. It requires diligent loving thought and right reason. It is an ongoing, evolving process with many ups and downs – and we must let God, the Universe, the Almighty intelligent power, know that we are happy to be alive and grateful for everything we have.

Morning Thoughts: This is only the beginning

9/21/2021

Picture
I’d like to share the Foreword of one of my books. This one belongs to “Better Living through Right Thinking” and it seems so appropriate at this time in my life.

It reads:
“This is only the beginning…the beginning of becoming aware of self, because the ‘self’ is the only reality you can ever be fully aware of.

Every day is a new commencement of this wondrous process of unfoldment from within. Within is where it starts and within is where it ends. Within is all there is, even though it looks that the world we live in is without. An illusion of our five senses we have believed since we were born.

However, we have only existed and not lived fully up to now. We have not yet used our full potential of this awareness, because we assumed that we are humans, not mental beings of light. Once we understand the incredible reality that we are mental beings, spirit, we will be able to glimpse at the great I AM.

I AM, these two most important words of all words, stand for you and for you and for me. I AM stands for all living beings because I AM is the only Truth – the only actuality. Once the meaning of these two words is fully understood, we can dwell in the bliss of the eternal.”

Be well my friends!

Morning Thoughts: Love conquers Hate

9/15/2021

This notion of ‘love conquers hate’ sounds quite cliché lest we are in the midst of a turbulent situation. Amid these trying days, it’s time to think about the consequences to hate another person. Hating really disturbs the natural harmony of our being. In-harmony affects our body.

This disturbed mindset influences our overall health in many ways.  Hurry, worry, contribute to tenseness in the neck areas, stomach troubles, and of course many accidents happen while rushing, not paying attention to the task at hand, or being absorbed in our own nervous energy.

A loss of a loved one, be it through death or rejection, the shock of being left behind, can really affect our mental health in so many devastating ways.

As someone who has observed mental healing for many, many years, I can attest to the fact, that the bone structure of the body represents this mental ‘harmony’.

When we experience aching bones, or even worse broken bones, we can be sure that our mental ‘harmony’ was disturbed or broken. Muscle weakness, stiffness and overall mental nervousness show the weakness in mind that we are experiencing at that time. Keeping negative emotions like resentment, hurt feelings or any kind of suffering, surely damages not only our nervous system, but also our physical body.

We must start looking at our mental ‘harmony’, our loving thoughts for life itself, and learn how to better our daily experience by the simple mantra: ‘Harmony is the principle underlying all life’.

A great synchronized plan is in store for each of us, shapeable by our desires and its fulfillment through right thought, supported by the Universe’s perfect blueprint.

Now is the time to move forward and soar! Be that beautiful butterfly and appreciate ourselves, our neighbor, and our Universe. I promise myself to be the best I can be because Love prevails. Love always wins. Love is the substance called God.

Digging deep

Picture

I read a lot of inspirational and psychology books. This is my saving grace and I’ve been doing this for 40 years. It really has helped, and still helps me, to overcome some disheartening experiences.

There is a lot of advice ‘out there’ and each of us must decipher what works and what feels real for the current situation. But when looking for Truth, it doesn’t matter who wrote it, said it, or taught it. Truth is Truth. We feel it in our gut, we know instinctively what’s right and what’s wrong, what’s good and what’s not acceptable.

I embrace Truth when I find it. I’m not afraid of it even though it’s not always what I’d like to hear. I take it with a grin or a tear, sometimes many tears. And if I don’t accept the Truth presented, I surely will be tested and will have to learn the lesson the hard way.
How do I know it’s the Truth? Does it feel right? Is it loving, uplifting, spiritual, pure, honest, and good for all concerned? I’m asking myself these questions all the time. Every decision I make has these questions attached.

Looking deep within my Soul, I’m asking my Higher Self, ‘What is my purpose and what is my goal in life? What do I really want? What do I think is lacking in my life? Am I as authentic as I can be?...and much more’.

Then, I listen carefully. My questions will be answered because it all stems from within. However, as much as I want the answers ‘right now’, I know there is no need to rush or worry. My heart might not agree, but my reasoning knows that patience is a virtue. I’m telling myself to take my Soul off the clock. When working from within, I must make sure not to overwhelm myself. Everything I need will be accomplished in due time, when the time is right.

In this process of self-discovery, I remind myself that it doesn’t matter what others do or say. I listen to opinions but do not take them personally or as my ultimate guidance. Each of us is only responsible for our own lives and our personal experiences. So, I stay focused on my own business—which is the business of my individual unfoldment. It’s the business of personal growth and happiness – one day at a time.

Overcoming Fear and anxiety, the looming shadows of assumptions

8/19/2021

Picture

I recently learned something new about the difference between ‘depression’ and ‘anxiety’. Depression is thinking and dwelling negatively about the past, described in the dictionary as ‘a state of low spirits caused by loss of hope or courage’. However, the keyword here is ‘in the past’.

Anxiety is the fear about what we assume is going to happen in the future, explained as ‘a feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease, typically about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome’. Keyword here is ‘the uncertain outcome of a future event’.

The first thing I must remember is that it is my Soul that does the living not my body. My (and your) body is the visible expression of my (and your) Soul, so I need to be grateful for the body I have and treat it with respect and kindness. Fear and Anxiety reflect and leave their imprint as illness and discomfort on the body.

“Fear is like a poison gas pumped into one’s atmosphere. It causes mental, moral and spiritual asphyxiation, and sometimes death - death to energy, to tissue and all growth” says Dr. Murphy in his book ‘Fear and Worry’, and “Fear in all its different phases of expression, such as worry, anxiety, anger, jealousy and timidity, is the greatest enemy of the human race”.

It is vital to remember that our Soul is the unbroken connection to the Almighty Universal Source. The Mind (consciousness and subconsciousness = One Mind) is the conduit of expression, or the active awareness of the “I AM”. I can think (reason) and feel, and I can choose what I think and feel. Therefore, I can think and feel rightly instead of harmfully. It takes practice, that’s for sure, but it can be done.

Step by step, day by day, the shadows of fear and anxiety will lessen and eventually vanish. Faith in the Allness of Good being the pivotal, crucially important, component of healing not only of our physical but also our mental discord.

“Never fear shadows. They simply mean there is a light shining somewhere nearby.” (Ruth E. Renkel)
