Our Mental Work

What does our daily work consist of? Is it a job, going to a place of business or taking care of a loved one? Is it only a physical task or is there something more we should pay attention to?

Work means more than being employed, cleaning the house, or doing other chores. There is much mental work to be done, much right thinking and feeling. And our mental work is just as important as, if not more important than our daily work, because we are creators; and creation comes from our ability to think and feel.

Remember, each one of us is the creator of our individual life experience—we are mental beings, not mere humans. We are the Soul, the unlimited potential; we are part of and connected to the Source of all Being. Let’s never forget that!

We must make sure to stay away from all those negative impressions during the day and allow only the positive to seep into our minds. We are digesting our daily mental imprints while sleeping and our sub-conscious, the mental storehouse of all our thoughts and feelings, will produce tangible results. Cause (Consciousness/Spirit), Activity (Right thought and good feeling) and Effect (Our visible experience) – all is good!

Our Individual Path

The Law of Individuality is a Universal Law that is broken by all of us most of the time. The Law states that each of us must live our own life to the best of our ability and gain Understanding of Truth through diligent search and study of how mind works.

We are individuals and must express ourselves individually. We are not to judge the other, we are not to meddle or criticize in their affairs. We are not to love some people more and some less.

However, we tend to get involved in our associates affairs, we want to control our loved ones, or at least give them advise. We want to fix their problems; we want to be the savior of the day.

Remember, we shall not demand or control others and thus no one should demand, control, or plan for us. No one should judge our actions, not even our loved ones. And therefore, we must also observe this law and not judge, control and push our convictions onto others. It’s a two-way street. As the old saying goes: Live and let live!
When it comes to our spouses, we must allow our partners in life to be themselves. We shouldn’t stifle their vision or make demands so they will change to our liking.

The truth is, they’re also perfect and good in nature and are doing the best to their ability. Just like each one of us, they are working on discovering themselves and the purpose of their lives. It's all individual. We have intertwined for only a brief moment in time. So, let’s enjoy this ride together, lovingly.

Talk about what’s good today…

“Talk about what’s good today and limit all gossip and negative conversations. Catch yourself when you want to chime in. Hear yourself speak.”

I wrote this quote several years ago and it’s valuable today and every day thereafter.

I’m sure many of you have read the 4 Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz. I love the simplicity of his message. The 4 Agreements you should always keep in mind are
  1. Be impeccable with your word
  2. Don’t take anything personal
  3. Don’t make assumptions
  4. Always do your best
These simple instructions will keep us busy for the rest of our lives. We must be aware of the words we speak. Impeccable means to not repeat negative phrases, not to use abusive language in any form, not to criticize or judge. It means to speak kindly and lovingly; to encourage your fellow man, to uplift and support.

Not taking anything personal (yes, quite an undertaking!) is another huge accomplishment and will lift all burden of our shoulders. It will destroy the ego and reveal our true Spirit. It is freedom.

We must not assume ‘we know it all’. Don’t believe just because someone says it – always proof it to yourself. When you’re not sure ask yourself: Is it kind, is it loving, is it good for all concerned? When the answer is yes, you are on the right track. It’s as simple as that.

And of course: We must always do our best. Whatever the best is, is relative to our understanding. However, if we strive to do our best we will grow and become more aware of what perfection and pure goodness really looks like. Doing our best, always, is the roadmap, it includes impeccable words, not taking everything personal and not making assumptions. Have a wonderful, uplifting day!

Is the glass half empty or half full?

We’ve heard it a thousand times— our experience depends on how we see our situation, ‘is the glass half empty or half full?’. Do we look for the positive in everything or are we tempted to give into negative expectations and suppositions?

How do you see your life right now? Is it full of joy or is it lacking? Ask yourself, am I content, happy, or dissatisfied with where I am at this stage in my life?

I review my state of mind frequently. It helps me to get back on track if I veered off the path even just for a short period of time. It’s a wake-up-call, time to chin up.

We attract what we believe to be true, not what we merely want. “I want” is purely wishful thinking. In order to manifest our desires, we must be absolutely convinced that it is possible to receive. Doubt will guarantee failure.

All manifestations are created by our ability to imagine, visualize, act, and feel this truth. The correct thought-application of Universal Law is what projects our experience into the visible.

The truth is: Life is always full, not empty. It is full of opportunities, ideas, and beauty if we’d only look around us. It is filled with love, if we exude love. It is filled will possibilities and the capacity to fulfill dreams, because we are the makers of these dreams, the fulfillers so to speak. Therefore, we must start seeing the good and full life only. Let’s practice!
