We fool ourselves by thinking that we can get away with lesser thoughts, and then we act surprised when unpleasant action follows. “Poor me,” we say, wondering why and where we’ve gone astray.
The remedy is simple: We must improve not only our thoughts, but also our feelings and our habitual demeanor. Balance in temperament and kindness toward all will get us in touch with what’s important.
Focusing on the negative is an addictive and destructive habit. Instead, we must talk about what’s good in our lives, the joys and upsides rather than the daily frustrations. This includes our ‘inside voice’. It’s what’s in our heart that counts.
Let’s not try to fix the outside, our perception of what we see; it’s our inside, our innermost thoughts and feelings, that need attention. Good feeling is the key!
