More than just 5 Senses...

The five senses help us to understand our “perception” of the physical world. But what about the mental meaning or the relation to our spiritual understanding of what we call hear, see, touch, taste, and smell? In the mental world there is also “reason.” When understood correctly, all of these abilities and the faculty of “reason” culminate in Understanding. Let me explain.

Humans have five senses that are based on signals we receive through the ears, eyes, skin, tongue, and nose. Scientists are still working to understand all of the complicated tasks these senses accomplish. As we know today, the brain takes these signals and makes logic of them, and this in turn creates our interpretation of the world. Yes, our interpretation of what we think this “world” consists of. Everything we’ve ever come to know since we were born, including our time in the womb, has been based on sensory experiences. How can we really be sure that this so-called “world” we perceive actually exists outside of our own imagination? Why is it important to understand the effect our imagination has on our experience of this “world” and our daily living?

I loved the example I read in a blog from 2008. The writer said to “Turn off all the lights, electronics, or other contraptions in your room, close your eyes, sit very still and, if you can, try to imagine that you cannot see, hear, taste, smell, or feel. You would be nothing but a brain hovering in the middle of an endless abyss of space.” Think about this. Your consciousness would still exist, but the abilities to experience your “world” would have been taken away. It’s like being in a deep coma you might say.

Therefore, we can deduce from this test that the senses are part of your consciousness. They are the activity of mind, not a physical sensation.

As the brain, speaking in metaphysical terms, is the seat of individual intelligence, or the picturing forth of this Universal, absolute, and limitless Intelligence, it is clear that the five senses are directly connected to the brain’s activities. This individual Intelligence is sending out signals of “hearing” (hearing the truth), “sight” (seeing the truth), “touch” (being in touch with the truth), “taste” (taking in the truth and digest it) and the “smell” (differentiate between right and wrong, ultimately coming to a conclusion based on truth).

The world and your personal existence has meaning through your understanding of this seemingly outward perception, identified through your faculties and your abilities. We form memories through our senses; we envision the future through our senses, our day to day experience depends on our senses, and all in accordance with the inert knowledge of being a full and perfect Soul, even though most individuals haven’t gained this insight at this stage of their lives.

Our body responds to every thought we think. The body always “speaks” to us and we have to listen to its messages. In reality, we think first - the body responds. However, we are not always aware of our habitual thoughts, so by listening to our body, we can interpret the thoughts we have thought of in the first place. Every cell in our body responds to every thought!

If you don’t like the reflection on your body, your thought improvements will do the trick! Tomorrow let’s look closely at our five senses and the meaning of the symbols.

Nothing in Life is permanent

This is an excerpt from the book “Forever…and 365 Days” by ULRIKE

It constantly changes. Every minute of our lives we encounter a shift, a ripple in the fabric of Consciousness. It’s all individual, yet the ripple effect flows through all life and perfectly ties all individuality together.
The material body, or shell, is an imaginary solid corpse, a vehicle for this plane, guided by the Soul. We wouldn’t be seen, or have an ID without it. So it is necessary in this stage of unfoldment. However, do not “become” the illusion. This body is the only one we have right now. Why don’t we take better care of it? It’s the temporary home, house, of your Soul. Make it livable; keep it clean and healthy so the Soul can expand and thrive.

The question begs an answer: Why do we abuse the body? By abusing your body, your mind cringes and stiffens. The Soul part of you (your spiritual self) wants to become free. It wants to return to its true home, the realm of Universal Consciousness, where it can regroup and reincarnate to another experience.

Last month, one of the greatest singers of all times died due to an overdose. She had been tormented for a long time, all of her “Earthly” wealth and status could not prevent her from destroying herself, proving again that your focus should be on a healthy mind. Material riches, as comfortable as they might seem at the time, have no lasting value. The Soul always yearns for the spiritual values and will leave the body when the enjoyment of this Earthly life has vanished.

The unenlightened mind is deceived by likes and dislikes and shaped by past habits and old ways of looking at things. It seeks fulfillment and ecstasy in superficial endeavors. It looks in all the wrong places.
The enlightened mind is searching for the truth and looks at it with indifference. It knows the truth is constant and unchangeable. The Understander will nourish the Soul and enjoy life to its fullest, always appreciating what he has at the time. Striving for more understanding, rather than material riches is the goal of a true searcher. Being wealthy is not bad - it is very, very good as long as you do not mistake it for “important” and “necessary” and know that you would be just as happy without it. This knowledge is true wealth.

A closer look at Patience...

Patience can mean many things to many people, but people mostly think of patience as a “difficult to apply” virtue. Patience can mean endurance, which is only good when used without suffering. It can mean restraint under pressure. It can prevent you from making hasty decisions. Patience is needed when a desire you are yearning for takes longer than you would like it to. Doing 'nothing' or 'waiting for the correct moment' can be the most difficult thing to do. But jumping to conclusions, or acting out of fear of losing something, or fear of missing the boat, will have more unpleasant consequences.

Patience is a virtue they say, but “Ah, patience, where art thou?”

Why be patient? Well, patience is true Strength. A mental conviction, the knowing that all will work out perfectly if one allows Universal Law to work the way it works.

When we are busy running around, rushing from one thing to another, we will be missing out on life. Constantly wanting more instead of letting things unfold is detrimental to the soul, it depletes the natural harmony we otherwise would experience.

Patience is a skill; one that needs practice. Especially in our fast-paced world, where no one wants to wait for anything anymore, everything is automated and available at the push of a button. But good things take while, as the old saying goes. Patience shows inner strength, sticking to what we know, trusting the Allness of Good, yes- patience is true Power.

“Patience is not passive; on the contrary, it is active; it is concentrated strength.” ~Edward G. Bulwer-Lytton~

Let's be realistic...

When we are practicing positive or right thinking, we have to be realistic. As much as we want to, we can’t change our engrained thought habits from one minute to another. It takes time to undo all of the wrong behaviors and feelings we have accumulated over the years. It took us a long time to become who we are at this point, it will take some time to reshape these notions of quick, undesirable reactions and damaging judgements. We are creatures of habit. We are who we are, because that is what we created for ourselves, step by step.

And so, we have to through daily practice, step by step, turn the negative into a positive. We can turn old and outgrown routines into new and better ones. We can, if determined and with an honest heart, change the thought patterns to reflect our new and improved way of looking at life.

However, action is required. We can speak all the positive affirmations we want, unless we act on it and think the good only, we are wasting our time. And with persistence, sooner or later, we will think, act, and live exactly the way our sub-conscious has been conditioned anew. We will therefore, going forward, manifest the good we focus on the most and we will become our concentrated thoughts.

Stay single-minded, entertain the good only, it will get you to your goal!

Actors of Life

Have you thought about this? We, each and every one of us, plays a role in our daily lives; and every day we slip into different parts of the play as actors do: Mother/father to our children, wife/ husband to our spouse, and, when we visit the doctor, we become the patient. When we go to school, attend classes, or participate in seminars, we become students. Going to work we become a mechanic, nurse, or firefighter. You might play the role of a hero, an intellectual, artist, or a victim.

We act differently in each capacity. The only thing that stays the same is our Soul, our true essence. Our thoughts change constantly, our beliefs vary and our convictions are sometimes in line with what other people think, and not what we should have researched on our own. We are so busy playing the role that we unfortunately neglect the Soul.

Your true mental business is to be busy with the good. Let go of the acting part. Be who you are. You can be a mother without acting like one. You can be a husband without pretending to be the kind of husband you think you are supposed to be. You can be an artist by expressing yourself through your art, but you don’t have to play the role that you think is expected of you. Can you shed the role of victim by taking on the responsibility of victor? Let me know what you think!

“Everything you are against weakens you. Everything you are for empowers you.”
