Inspiration...what does it mean to me?

Inspiration, what does it mean to me?

Every day, in this earthly life, there are ups and downs, deep emotional valleys and steep mountains to overcome. We have not yet learned to travel the straight and narrow road of Understanding. We still coast and veer off the path we travel. A sudden change of attitude or a jump back into a dark habitual mood always deters us from moving toward the light. How much easier does it seem to reach back to the old and outgrown thought habits of the past?

But it is this light, or moment of ‘seeing with the mental eye’, that inspires us to keep moving and to get back on the road to eternal bliss - again and again. This glimpse of the Truth that all is good and all is mental, and that we are part of this Universal goodness with its wonderful effects, is what keeps us going. We instinctively know the Truth when we keep our minds open to all possibilities.

Inspiration comes in many forms. A wonderful reminder of a past experience, a certain smell reminding you of a pleasant encounter, the sound of a song that triggers loving feelings, looking at nature and its wondrous bounty, or the birth of a baby are just a few examples of new hope and a fresh want for living. A new desire for a better tomorrow is born every second and readily available to you.

Indeed, desire is the starting point of all achievement, but most of all it is the starting point of imagination and the active spark or beginning of all creation. Your desire is a spark in your consciousness pressing for expression. Life is unfolding itself. Life always presses for manifestation and progress. It is an ever-changing ongoing process. Like water, life flows.

With this in mind I make sure that my motivation is pure, and comes from within the chambers of my loving heart. The Universe with its vast ocean of pure possibilities is ready and willing to provide, and I draw from this unlimited Universal gift.

Knowing that God is close and ever-present is all the daily inspiration I need to keep moving forward. Seeing the sunrise in the early morning hours reminds me that I have another chance to change my course; and I will travel happily toward my ultimate goal, which is perfect Understanding of the Allness of Good.

Watching our thoughts…

I posted a quote today that I wrote several years ago, but it is always relevant. It reads: “Talk about what’s good today, and limit all gossip and negative conversations. Catch yourself when you want to chime in. Hear yourself speak.”

Why must we watch our thoughts and words? Because they create our world, our day to day experiences. When must we watch our thoughts and words carefully? The answer is simple: all the time!

As many of you know, I’ve been doing this for over 30 years. I’ve reprogrammed myself somewhat, at least to a state of being aware of my thought habits and moods. I understand that it’s not easy to constantly watch our thoughts. But here are some questions that I ask myself regularly:

How is my demeanor today? Pleasant, content, or anxious, uneasy, busy? Or am I relaxed and confident? Do I come across stern, harsh, unapproachable, and indifferent? Or do I exude loving kindness, helpfulness, and calm? Do I embrace my life with its ups and downs? Am I courageous in making choices that help my Soul so I can stay on the right path to understanding? The list goes on and on. Our daily thoughts vary and shift constantly, sometimes they are all over the map and sometimes they are calm and collected.

What about you? How are you today?

Please take the time to observe yourself so you can make corrections. Negative thoughts are like weeds. They spread quickly if you don’t tend to them. Remove all weeds in your mind, especially fears, small or large, discouragement and doubt, and you will see a difference immediately. I know it works, because I’ve tested it over and over again. One step at a time!

Thoughts on Collective Consciousness...

The individual transformation of your mind is not an absolute, but a matter of degree. Each day you are transforming your mind (composed of desire, active thought, past accumulative impressions, and the daily experiences) into a new version of yourself. All impressions and thoughts are stored in your subconscious and transform your understanding as well as your beliefs constantly. Your understanding at this point is relative. It will always be relative to the ultimate Truth.

As I have stated many times before, you must give up the ego in order to find your true self, this pure and all-knowing self, which seems to have been lost for as long as you can remember. This “knowing yourself,” even in a small degree, is necessary as a starting point. Without getting a glimpse of your true Self you cannot understand how Collective Consciousness, or what we call “the people”, works.

Collective consciousness is more powerful than individual consciousness; it is a force to be reckoned with. Our individual consciousness is very powerful in itself - and for self, but when we join other likeminded people in whatever cause we want to support, we are more powerful as a whole. Therefore, start by envisioning that the world is one, that all people are connected. Pretty tough assignment, I know. But you must shed that sense of separateness and realize that Collective Consciousness is more commanding than individual consciousness in the grand plan. As you are the power within your individual world, Collective Consciousness is the power that drives the whole world. However, do not mistake this worldly view with Universal Power, that’s a whole other story discussed at a later date.

Improving our Mental Attitude

Every day, it seems, there is a challenge waiting to be solved. Every day, we are confronted by tests and obstacles. Every day, there are things to be improved and progress to be made. And every day we say: I’ll work on it tomorrow.

Do you want to be and live well? Of course, I know the answer is yes! We all do! Remember, NOW is the time to start our mental house cleaning, and always has been, because everything that we shove under the rug eventually has to be cleaned out. Cleaning out old, outgrown habits is the first step. Improving our mental attitude comes next.

We want to feel better, we want to be healthier, we want to worry less...yes, we do know what we want. We have it all lined up, ready to go, and then doubt creeps up. Do we have time to deal with it right now? Are we ready to change, we ask ourselves? We stop; we find excuses, we abandon the good desire we had.

Make no mistake, continuing with our regular way of dealing with things will keep us in a rut. It will not improve our quality of living. We must get started now, no matter what the circumstances, because it will not get any easier. The more ingrained our habits become, the more challenging it will be to change our mental demeanor.

So, my message to you today is simple: Don’t procrastinate, do it now. Don’t wait, enjoy now. Don’t hesitate, create now. Don’t postpone, begin now. Because the NOW is all you have.

The people around us…

People show up in our lives for many reasons, but all of them are mirror reflections of what we need at that point in time. Good or bad, friendly or cruel, they appear as a reminder of lessons to be learned. Some friendships wither away quickly and some will last a life time, it’s all in our perception of what we lack at the time. So, what can we learn?

Is it patience we must practice or does the other possess a quality that we admire? Is the other full of enthusiasm for life, which we might have forgotten? Are we easily hurt and need a lesson in courage?

Even if we meet someone that exhibits a character trait that we no longer appreciate, we must look at that unpleasant, or maybe unkind, individual with compassion. See their pain and struggles, and then move on with our own wonderful sense of gratitude for all the good in our lives. Mentally detach and leave their negativity behind, move toward the light, not darkness.

I’m asking you today: Are you comparing yourself to others? Do you want to be like your friend or neighbor? Are you dissatisfied with what you have accomplished so far? If yes, why not embrace who you are and what you stand for?
We must understand that we are already perfect and good by nature, and that we are individual particles of the God-power. Taking command over our own destiny takes courage and willpower, however, we must acknowledge the fact that we are in charge of our own lives. We must know that we are the captain of our ship and we can decide which direction to go. We have the power to do so.

However, we will meet people day in and day out, so let us only spend time and converse with people who represent who we want to be. Let us seek out the individuals who inspire us, cheer us on, and wish us well. Stay close to the folks who have the same goals, aspirations, and, better yet, are already at their best. Let us learn as much as we can, observe, and know that the power of success is already within us. As I said before, we are already perfect and good, we just must apply what we know; and see our friends, family, acquaintances, and any one that crosses our path as a wonderful present bestowed onto us from the Almighty Universe. Thank you, to all of you who have shared my path along the way!
